System Change, Not Incremental Reform

It's Time for a Political Revolution

In Colorado, the Democratic Party holds control of all three political branches of power and has elected to go for incremental approaches to a system that they’ve decried as unfair, rigged, and stacked against workers, women, communities of color, and our environment.   This timid approach comes after decades of allowing oil companies, corporations, and private prisons to profit billions of dollars from the destruction of our environment, the exploitation of our workers, and the criminalization of our communities.

It’s time for a political revolution and a new Democratic Party that can be a leader in fighting against these ingrained injustices and delivering systematic change in Colorado.  These issues are beyond the political binary that has shaped our state’s politics and our concerns are often left out of most discussions, while wedge issues dominate the debate.

Our revolution seeks to change the conversation and challenge a system that does not work for most of us and keeps all of us held back. There will be those who dismiss our platform as too ambitious and that those in power will never let one of our policies see the light of day. To them I respond: “They are not in power, we are.”

We live in a Democracy where if we have the courage to get involved, check our egos at the door, listen to new perspectives, to facts, to experts in the field the solutions will become obvious and the change revolutionary.
